I interviewed dating expert Lucia about her work, what inspired her to start her YouTube Channel, The Art Of Love, and the work that goes into making her videos.
Tell me a bit about who you are.
I’m a dating/relationship expert specializing in helping people get their ex back. I’m the #1 female ex back coach with over 14 million Youtube views. I’m the author of “No Contact Secrets” and former host of the Art of Love TV show and The Art of Love radio show on L.A Talk Radio
How and why did you start making YouTube videos?
I was originally posting clips from my TV show, which dealt with dating in general, but decided to transition to talking about getting an ex back, when I went through a breakup and found that most of the information available at that time was incorrect.
What is your channel called, and how did you come up with the name?
The name of the channel is my brand name, The Art of Love. I chose that name because I believe that love is an art, and like all the arts, you get better at it as you learn more about it.
What do you make videos about?
Most of my videos focus on how to get an ex back.
Do you have a particular series you’re working on, or do you vary your content?
At the moment, getting an ex back is all I focus on.
What inspired you to start making videos and what do you hope to accomplish?
Since I was already doing my TV Show locally in Los Angeles, it was a natural transition to post clips on YouTube. My hope is to educate people to make less mistakes when they want to get their ex back, in order to give them the best chance at accomplishing their goal.
Do you feature in your videos personally, or make your videos from other content?
Everything in the videos is my content.
Do you feature other people on The Art Of Love in the form of interviews or co-hosting?
The clips from my TV show feature my former co-host, otherwise, it’s just me.
Do you edit your own videos or have someone who does it for you?
I have someone who does it for me.
Do you script your videos, or just chat as you go?
Depending on the topic, I’ll have bullet points about the things I want to say. Otherwise, if I want to make sure I say things in a specific way and don’t want to miss anything, I’ll write the script out.
Do you have any specific equipment you use, such as camera, lighting, screens etc? Or are you a mobile phone camera user?
At the moment it’s mobile phone for me.
How has The Art Of Love changed or developed since you began?
I finally have an opening and closing script that I’m vey happy with. Before, I had a closing script, but no opening. I just went right into the video.
What are you biggest challenges with The Art Of Love?
At the moment, it’s coming up with new topics to discuss, since I’ve pretty much covered everything having to do with breakups
What are your favourite YouTubers to watch?
I like to watch Shallon Lester, Mindful Attraction and Dylan James.
How and where do you promote The Art Of Love?
I promote it on all my socials as well as a weekly newsletter.
Do you earn money from The Art Of Love, or is it a hobby?
Yes I earn money, it’s not just a hobby.
What’s something you never expected about being a YouTuber? What have you learned that surprised you?
I’m always surprised when I speak to coaching clients and they say they’re big fans and see me as a celebrity. I don’t see myself that way, but I appreciate the response to my work.
What is the first piece of advice you would give to anyone inspired to start a YouTube channel?
Make it about something you’re very passionate about. Don’t try to fake it. The audience can spot who’s really into what they’re talking about and who’s just faking it.
And, finally, are your proud of what you’re accomplishing with your YouTube channel? Is it worth the effort?
I’m proud of the fact that I’ve had almost 15 million views so far, and over 80,000 subscribers!
