Jake Huffman

Jake Huffman is known for his euphoric indie pop rock which brings anthemic energy to a global audience. He has garnered humbling praise from the likes of the Rolling Stone, US Weekly, and NPR, worked as composer and lyricist for Sesame Street, and has written dozens of songs for artists like Ed Sheeran and Leon Bridges.

Previously, Jake was known as the lead vocalist and drummer in the viral alt rock band, McLovins, when at the age of 14, he posted on YouTube a cover of Phish’s “You Enjoy Myself” from his parents basement in Connecticut. Since then, he has shared the stage with Blink-182, Foster The People, BB King and The Flaming Lips. Now, after taking time out to reshape himself as a solo artist, he is returning with his new EP, Younger, featuring songs entirely written, performed and produced by Jake himself.

Younger

Huffman’s new EP, Younger, is a four-track showcase of his musical abilities and artistry. Wholesome and catchy, Younger features insanely infectious melodies and clever lyricism, over intricate instrumentation.

Huffman’s catchest song to date, Martyr, is the opening track on the EP and represents a perfect encapsulation of what Jake Huffman is about, both lyrically and sonically.

After reminiscing about the place where he spent the majority of his teens and early twenties playing and going to music festivals, Vampires In Hippie Clothes is a deeply nostalgic track with a sticky warm energy and a hint of a reggae vibe.

Feelings of an 80s sci-fi horror mixed into a twisted fantasy like day dream is conjured by the experimental track Babe, with its creepy, sexy, vicious indie pop sound. Huffman shared that even though they took risks with Babe, he actually think it turned out to be very cohesive and fits right in with the other tracks on Younger.

The EP is closed by Body Talk, described as  having a unique musical palette as if the Bee Gees were running from a Scooby doo swamp monster. Blending rock, pop and funk, the main monster wubby subby sound is actually a cello that he manipulated with a few different filters and ran through the Soundtoys decapitator. While he has been writing and working on these songs for a few years now, it’s Body Talk that he listens to the most.
