I am the author of a book called “The Things I Wish You Knew About Weight Loss”. I have been helping people lose weight and create new healthy habits for over 20 years now. I am a kinesiologist (exercise physiologist) by trade and I have owned my business for the past 15 years.

Writing The Things I Wish You Knew About Weight Loss

The idea of writing a book has always been a thing to do on my bucket list, but it has always been something that I thought I would do at the end of my career. In 2020, I decided to take the leap; because I wanted to help and share my professional insight to as many people as possible. Not a week goes by without meeting people who are in bad shape both physically and mentally who wish they could get better but don’t know how to get started.

Moreover, many clients had told me that what set me apart from all the other specialists in the fitness industry was my ability to popularize the science and methods on weight loss and exercising, and I wanted to make good use of my talent. I have had the privilege to help many people from different walks of life and ages achieve formidable transformations against all odds through many years of practice.

So, I decided to write this book to inspire people to change and to give them the right tools, based on telling the stories of my past clients.

My Writing Experiences

It took me a year to write the book. I am running 2 businesses and I have 2 young kids; needless to say that I am short on time. I made a decision to wake up 1 hour earlier every day to write, no matter what happened. When the book was done, I faced the new challenge of publishing it. That’s when I discovered Amazon’s direct publishing program.

I used that wonderful platform and my book is now available in Kindle or paperback format on that website.

Promoting My Book

I did not know anything about how to self-promote a book. I used my businesses’ social media to leak parts of the book before its release to create awareness. I also created lists of people who signed in for a free chapter; which lead to building a potential readership base for the future.

The other thing I did to help me promote the book was to start writing a series of articles on my LinkedIn about health, exercising, mindset and weight loss. Shortly after, I was asked to publish my articles for Brainz magazine as an executive contributor.

I now reach many thousands of readers every month with that gig, and it helps me to further promote my book and meet my original goal of being able to help many thousands of people.

Proud Of My Accomplishments

What started as a “let’s see if I like writing” has turned into a real passion of mine to which I dedicate many hours each week. I get regular positive feedback that my book and articles indeed help and inspire people all over the world, and it has awakened this creative side of me that I didn’t even know I had not so long ago.
