On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, onlinecasinos.co.uk set out to find which Oscar Winning Actors earn the most money per second of screen time.

It would shock horror fans to learn that Oscar-winning Anthony Hopkins only appeared on screen for sixteen minutes in “Silence of the Lambs.” He was reportedly offered $15 million for the sequel despite this.

Onlinecasinos.co.uk was intrigued by this and set out to determine which Oscar-worthy actors are worth the most per second on screen.

Methodology

  1. Onlinecasinos.co.uk were curious to discover which Oscar-nominated/winning actors over the last 40 years are the most valuable by analysing the worth per second on screen.
    1. Please note that only current living actors with greater than one nominated film were included in the final data.
  2. Firstly, Onlinecasinos.co.uk utilised idolnetworth.com and celebritynetworth.com to gather each actor’s estimated net worth.
  3. Secondly, screentimecentral.com was used to calculate the actor’s time spent on screen for all Oscar-nominated films.
  4. The-numbers.com was then used to obtain international box office data.
  1. Please note: Only films from 1980 to the present were used due to a lack of data for older films.
  2. In addition, some films from 2021 and 2020 lack box office data and were excluded from the piece.
  1. All figures were adjusted for inflation using the US CPI data.
  2. For each actor, the sum of worldwide box office earnings of the Oscar-nominated films they were in, plus the time in seconds they were on screen, was calculated. In addition, the average proportion of time spent on screen was also calculated.
  3. The box office sum was then multiplied by the average time on screen to get a proportion of box office earnings
  4. Please note the final sum was converted using google finance formula for other currencies.
  5. This value was then divided by the number of seconds the actor spent on the screen to get an average worth per second for each actor, revealing the most valuable actors.
  6. Numbers were rounded for readability purposes.
