Christmas Programming In Weymouth

We Are Weymouth

Christmas 2022 is jam packed with entertainment, in true We Are Weymouth (BID) style. Featuring activities, events, workshops and performances for all ages, the town of Weymouth is turning into nothing short of the North Pole itself!

Following the success of the 4 Weekends Of Christmas in 2021, We Are Weymouth is recreating the schedule for Christmas 2022, but bigger and better!

Christmas in Weymouth

November 26th

Christmas season starts on Saturday November 26th with the light illumination in Weymouth Town Centre. Celebrations begins at 10am with a screening of Arthur Christmas in Cineworld followed by an Elf Trail throughout the town.

We Are Weymouth hope that over 2,000 ‘elves’ will gather and be counted in New Bond Street to beat the current Elf World Record of 1,762. To help get everyone into the elf spirit, elf workshops are being held across the town, including bauble decorating, elf hat making, and so much more. Staff in local businesses will be dressing up as elves, helping to turn Weymouth into an elf extravaganza for the day.

Throughout the day, local bands and performers will take to the stage in New Bond Street, all culminating in the official light switch-on and Animated Christmas Light Show on The Range at 5.15pm.

Late night shopping and entertainment are available until 8pm, with an Elf night at Weymouth’s famous night club, ‘The Closet’.  Visitors and locals are invited to dress up as elves and join in the fun!

Christmas in Weymouth

December 2nd-4th

A magical Steampunk Christmas Weekend is taking place from Friday the 2nd to Sunday the 4th of December, filled with mechanical, mystical creations.  Steampunkers from across the country are coming to Weymouth, to bring a touch of fantasy to the Christmas season.

The Royal Hotel hosts a Steampunk Gala on Decemebr 2nd, where students from Weymouth College will exhibit Steampunk Costumes they have created. This event is ticketed and all proceeds go to local charity Weldmar Hospice.  Locals and visitors are encouraged to come together to support this brilliant charity and have a glimpse into the world of Steampunk.

The Nothe Fort plays host to the Steampunk Bazaar, on Saturday December 3rd from 10am to 4pm. An array of Steampunk stalls will be selling the most unique Christmas gifts imaginable, while visitors can also enjoy mulled wine, the Wessex Brass Band, and so much more!

The evening of Decmebr 3rd is The Dolmen Yuletide Ball at Weymouth’s Centenary Club, with Steampunkers, Pirates, Celts and more invited.

On the morning of Sunday 4th December, vistors will see a promenade of Steampunkers in all their finery along the seafront.

Christmas in Weymouth

December 10th-11th

In 6 venues throughout the town on Saturday 10th December you can follow The Nativity Trail to experience the Christmas story. Finishing in Hope Square, you will enjoy carols, mulled wine and mince pies, the Salvation Army Band and a spectacular Christmas Animated Light Show.

On Sunday 11th December there is a Farmers and Makers Market in New Bond Street, another fantastic opportunity to pick up unique Christmas gifts.

Christmas in Weymouth

December 17th-18th

The weekend of the 17th and 18th of December is for Santa Filled Fun!  Over the past 3 weeks, children in Weymouth have been busy writing their letters to Santa and this weekend the man himself is coming to collect the letters and take them to the North Pole!  The Elf trail continues throughout the town and Santa will be in his Grotto in Cineworld for the whole weekend.

On Sunday 18th December there’s the annual Pudding Run and Chase the Elf on Weymouth Beach – the perfect conclusion to the Weymouth Christmas season.
