I interviewed podcaster Anu Verma about her life and career, what inspired her to start podcasting, and the work that goes into her sexual and domestic violence podcast, Victim 2 Victor.
My name is Anu Verma, born in Coventry, UK and I’m the founder of Victim2Victor.net. My website, book and podcast aim to empower and inspire survivors, showing them that healing from sexual and domestic abuse is possible.
I started this podcast in January 2021 after my book had been published in October 2020 of the same name.
As a survivor of sexual and domestic abuse, I wanted to not only share my story with other survivors but to offer a platform where they could come on to share their stories of survival and how they managed to overcome the obstacles of life.
We grow by learning from others and podcasts are a fantastic platform for this.
My podcast is called ‘Victim 2 Victor’ and the name was pretty easy for me to come up with as this was a phrase that I have stood by since starting my healing work. My healer used to say that I am a victor now and no longer a victim which really empowered me throughout my healing.
My podcast is available on all podcast platforms: Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Pandora, TuneIn + Alexa, Podcast Addict, Podchasher, Pocket Casts, Player FM and Podcast Index
This podcast is to support victims of sexual & domestic abuse. I have guests on my show who are from diverse professions & backgrounds who all contribute their own teachings to inspire and help us all.

I feel grateful that I have had so many amazing guests on my show to share their wisdom with my listeners. I have a list of guests who I am looking to have on my show in due course though I am still busy scheduling those who have contacted me.
I carry out all of my talks via zoom as the majority of my guests are from all over the world and I am based in the UK. Prior to recording, I usually ask my guests to send me all relevant information about themselves which would help me to prepare the questions that I am to ask them.
Once an episode is recorded, I then send this off to my editor to master before I publish the episode. I also publish episodes on YouTube platform and I have a helper to assist with this also as there is a lot of time required for each and every episode and I am so grateful that I have some help so that I can spend more time on recording which is what I enjoy the most.
My scheduling ranges from 1 or 2 episodes published per week. This is dependent upon my own work schedule and I tend to record either at lunch times or in the evening once my son is in bed. Do you script your podcasts, or just chat as you go?
When I first started podcasting, I was recording the episodes all alone and was planning each episode with bullet points to ensure that I covered everything. Since having gusts on my show, the talk is organic and leads us to wherever it is meant to go, which I love as it flows naturally and like how an interview should go.
The biggest challenges I face with my podcast is having the time to record all of the talks that I would love to record as there are so many amazing guests that I connect with on my socials and I would love to have them on my show, eventually I will though with my other family and work commitments, I need to plan my time accordingly.
I love listening to self-development podcasts and started off my whole personal development journey by listening to The Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu as I love his episodes with experts in the field of neuroscience. I also love The Tony Robbins podcast because he has so many wonderful and successful guests on his show who share important insights.
I usually promote each episode on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin.
Podcasting has been a passion of mine since I started and I am looking to collaborate more with sponsors in the near future. I have learnt so much about my niche area which has proven to be very valuable as I am also a trauma therapist in training so by having expert guests on my show has enhanced my knowledge and expertise in this area.
I never realized how easy it would be to actually set up a podcast. I always used to think that podcasting was for host professionals only though I have managed to set up my show in my own home, which is marvelous.
I would recommend anybody who is looking to start a podcast to go for it and don’t hold back. When my friend suggested me to start a podcast, I questioned myself thinking that I would not have anything to say. As time went on, so much has come to me to be of value to my listeners and the topics yet still to cover are endless. It has helped that I am currently specialising in this field of trauma so I would recommend you all to continue reading, learning and growing during the process.
It is sooo worth it!! I have met so many wonderful people since podcasting and the knowledge that I have gained is beyond belief. With knowledge comes power and confidence that what we are talking about is credible.
