On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, the two part Don’t Go Out There! werewolf horror series by Sean Watson was inspired by a snow-induced real-life lock-in that occurred at Britain’s highest pub, The Tan Inn.
Sean Watson’s based the first instalment of his Don’t Go Out There! horror series in a snowstorm on a weekend lock-in at the highest pub in Britain, The Tan Inn, which stands above 528m above sea level.
Sean Watson used his extensive werewolf research and the lore that surrounds these beasts, including their carnivorous cravings and the moral dilemmas that go hand in hand with their actions, to keep readers on the edge of their seats by the sense of foreboding and isolation which create perfect the perfect opportunity for two werewolves to come a calling.
Just when you think you’ve got twenty-first century werewolves figured out, book two throws a thrilling twist: there’s more to their hunger than meets the eye. And at a brisk 170 pages each, these fast-paced novels can be devoured in a single sitting, leaving you hungry for more.
Remember the Tan Hill Inn? Snowed in for days, a pub full of strangers became a temporary community. Now, imagine that same isolation, but with a terrifying secret lurking in the darkness…
Under a full moon, a freak blizzard descends upon the remote Tan Hill Inn, trapping a motley crew of staff, patrons, and a tribute band. Among them are Texan twins, Karl and Brad, separated weeks earlier at Heathrow in a bizarre accident. Reunited by fate at the Inn, they’re unaware a far greater danger stalks them than the biting wind. As the storm rages and supplies dwindle, something stirs in the shadows, something hungry for more than just food. Can they survive the blizzard and face the unseen threat that emerges under the pale moonlight?
Werewolves, Karl and Tanya, have escaped to France while survivors from the Tan Hill Inn are in pursuit, including Karl’s twin brother Brad and Tanya’s brother, Peter. Karl and Tanya have twins, Romulus and Remus, and befriend a French midwife, Maria. But Maria has her own secrets, and she is a lot older than she look.
A book is in the hands of one of the survivors, which, along with other evidence, proves that the werewolves are not bad, and that their victims at the Tan Hill Inn deserved to die.
Sean Watson grew up in Norwich, England. As a mature student, Sean studied history at the University of East Anglia where successfully completed his Bachelors, and his master’s in early modern history. It was his experience at the UEA that gave him the confidence to become an author, and he has dedicated his work, to Adrian, his little brother who tragically died over forty years ago.
Sean is currently working on volume three, ‘The Black Ledger’ which is due for imminent publication, and a further instalment of Don’t Go Out There! is also planned.
