Blessing

Blessing by Brian J. Twiddy immerses and unsettles readers in equal measure as it plunges readers into the relationship between his two young and illegal immigrant protagonists, Dev and Adey, and the power exerted by the novel’s menacing and predominant pastor.

Dev, with aspirations and irresistible charm, and Adey, his amoral friend, who negates difficulties for money, are brought to London. Dev is happy to bend the law, Adey to break it.  Whilst Adey lives in the shadows, Dev chases his dream of a business empire.

Fate, love and circumstance, aided by a dominating Pastor compromised over a Blessing passed down through the firstborn of a family for millennia have other ideas.

As pseudo grumpy old septuagenarian, Twiddy pulled on his experience and success as published playwright to deliver this well-constructed and dramatically charged first novel, woven with some of his pet peeves, including, people too full of themselves for their, and everyone else’s, own good, and dishwashers, into the story.

Ultimately, Blessing is a novel that explores the premise that no good person can be wholly good, and that no evil person can be wholly evil. One thing is guaranteed, those that pick up a copy and find themselves pondering this philosophical question, will find it almost impossible to put down.
