On The Table Read, “the best arts magazine in the UK“, Osprey Charging, one of the UK’s leading networks of EV charging points, are celebrating Disability History Month with artwork on their chargers.
Inclusive Artwork
Osprey Charging, one of the UK’s leading networks of rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging points, are celebrating UK Disability History Month, which runs from the 16th November to the 16th December, and International Day of People with Disabilities is on 3rd December, by displaing eye-catching and inclusive piece of artwork that show support for, and solidarity with, the disability community.
To celebrate Osprey’s commitment to supporting electric vehicle drivers with disabilities, for two months, across the UK, the artwork will be displayed on up to 30 of Osprey’s Tritium 75kW chargers.
#OspreyUKDHM
Until midnight on Sunday 13th November, Osprey is inviting visual artists to submit their designs with an artist’s statement on Instagram or Twitter, tagging Osprey and using the hashtag #OspreyUKDHM.
The final design will be revealed on 16th November (the first day of UK Disability History Month) with the winning artist also being paid £1000 by Osprey.
Osprey’s chargers are currently challenging the public to learn more about black history and the black experience by dislaying artwork by Kaia Allen-Bevan, a Racial Justice / Anti Racism advocate, in celebration of Black History Month (1st – 31st October).
Prior to this, in July, Osprey showcased artwork by queer illustrator and graphic designer, Ben White, to celebrate Pride and show its support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Osprey Charging
“At Osprey we are building an EV charging network for the future that is open to all, and so it’s important for us to show our support for typically under-represented communities,” explained Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging. “By turning our EV chargers into spaces for artwork we celebrate themes that are suggested by our staff and customers, whilst raising awareness of some important causes and organisations. We look forward to receiving many submissions from talented artists and illustrators in support of Disability History Month and can’t wait for our drivers to see the final design on our chargers later this year.”
Osprey Charging Network is a UK-wide, rapid electric vehicle charging network, backed by Investec and Cube Infrastructure Partners. Osprey fund, install and manage their network on behalf of landlord partners.
The Osprey network is built to provide a trusted and comfortable experience: reliable, open-access and easy-to-use charge points are conveniently located on major routes and with nearby amenities. All Osprey chargers accept contactless payments, App payments, RFID payments and payment through all major third-party payment methods including fleet cards and roaming partners. Every charging point is also powered by 100% renewable electricity. More information on Osprey can be found at ospreycharging.co.uk.
UK Disability History Month
“Despite some improvements, many people still do not still view disabled people as fully human. Disability History Month aims to change this by raising awareness of the unequal position of disabled people in society and advocating disability equality.” said Richard Rieser, Coordinator at UK Disability History Month. “We’re delighted that Osprey is voicing its support for disabled communities and applaud its commitment to making a charging network that is accessible for disabled EV drivers in the UK.”
UK Disability History Month (UKDHM) is an annual event creating a platform to focus on the history of the struggle for equality and human rights that disabled people face. UKDHM’s motto is: Celebrating our Lives – Challenging Disablism – Achieving Equality. This year it will take place from Wednesday 16th November 2022 to Friday 16th December 2022 and the theme is Disability, Health and Well Being. For more information visit https://ukdhm.org/
