Tim Young

Multi-Grammy certified vocalist, songwriter and music producer, Tim Young is known for his atmospheric rock meets alternative pop sound. Over the years, he has had the privilege of working with the likes of Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Max Martin, Ashanti, Hugh Jackman and Lin-Manuel Miranda, to name a few. Described as Lana Del Rey meets Journey, Tim meshes atmospheric lyrics full of brutally honest and tragically hysterical stories, with aggressive audio production, to create something that is uniquely his own.

Tim Young

After working on Broadway, the nightlife scene was where he developed his award-winning shows and became a sought-after performer for the top purveyors of city entertainment. Now he feels ready to delve into his new career as a solo artist.

Mental Health

Lavender recalls the beauty and anguish of a sudden and devastating break-up in a honest and deeply personal way, capturing the intensity and complexity of an all-consuming relationship, and the devastation that comes when it ends. Lyrically, Tim Young presents a raw and emotional outpouring of his inner turmoil after being obsessed with a guy, and letting his whole world revolve him. The relationship was so deep into his head that when it ended it, he felt it broke his mind, causing a full-on manic mental breakdown.

After seeking mental health care, Young diagnosed with Bipolar Type II, something he had unknowingly struggled with his whole life. He learned that he was always coping with intense polarity shifts that he thought were normal, until the extreme circumstances he found himself in pushed him to the brink of finally seeking help.

Now, Young believes that a combination of therapy, medicine and music have saved his life, giving him a better sense of his own identity, and allowing him to feel ready to share this music now.

Lavender

Young explained that he wrote new single Lavender while stoned on a lavender spliff, as while he was obsessed with the man he loved, the man was obsessed with lavender. He made his cologne out of it, he’d bathe in it, he’d smoke it. Everything about him and their time together was wrapped up in that scent.

Young’s voice dominates the track, from the rhythm and harmonics, to the effects, where his vocals are stretched, pulled and transformed into different, otherworldly sounds. With memories from his relationship playing on a loop in his mind, the swirling amalgamation of sounds in Lavender truly reflects how he was feeling during the song’s conception.

Lavender will connect listeners with the beauty of chaos, the gift of feeling pain and the vulnerability of being in love.
