On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, TouchCasino.com have researched which colour dress is the luckiest for actors who want to win at the Oscars.
Luckiest Colour Dress
Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman are all well-known for their incredible performances that have won them Oscars. But what do they all have in common? The year they won a golden statuette, they all wore black dresses.
TouchCasino.com decided to investigate which color of dress Oscar-winning actresses have had the most luck with, despite the fact that a person’s dress color has no effect on their chances of winning an Oscar. TouchCasino.com did this by looking at previous Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress winners from 1980 onwards to determine which color has won the most awards.
# | Dress Colour | Number of Winning Dresses (2022-1980) |
1 | Black | 21 |
2 | White | 12 |
3 | Blue | 10 |
4 | Gold | 7 |
5 | Green | 6 |
Oscar Winners
TouchCasino.com can reveal that 21 Academy Award winners wore black to win a shiny gold statuette, making it the luckiest dress color for them.
Nicole Kidman’s Jean Paul Gaultier gown from 2003, Julia Roberts’ vintage Valentino gown from 2001, and Jessica Lange’s Calvin Klein number from 1995 are among these stunning gowns.
White comes in second place for luckiest dress color, with 12 white gowns winning the prize. These include Marion Cotillard’s art deco mermaid-inspired Jean Paul Gaultier dress and Renée Zellweger’s most recent custom Armani Privé gown from 2020.
Blue comes in third with ten stunning gowns that have won since 1980, including Brie Larson’s Gucci gown in 2016 and Hilary Swank’s memorable Guy Laroche gown with a plunging back in 2005.
Gold comes in fourth, with seven winning actresses who wore the statuette’s color and each taking home one, followed by green, with six winners.
Methodology
1. TouchCasino.com made a list of the colors that won the Oscars by looking at the official list of the winners from 2022 to 1980 and looking at each winning actress’ gown from the year they won.
2. The number of times an actress had won in that color dress was used by TouchCasino.com to determine which color was considered to be the luckiest.
*TouchCasino.com stopped at 1980 due to consistency reasoning because it became harder to identify colors the further back they went.
