Amateur Sports Photography

Speaking about the Amateur chapter, World Sports Photography Awards co-founder Simon Burton said: “Sports photography is about emotion, and the story behind the image. That’s true whether it’s a world-famous athlete in a stadium or kids at a school sports day. We look forward to seeing the entries in this category which tell inspiring stories of endeavour, determination, disappointment, and celebration.”

Sophie Collins, chief marketing officer, MPB said; “We’ve seen some truly astonishing imagery win the World Sports Photography Awards this year and we are very excited to open up this new stage of the competition to shine a spotlight on talented amateur sports photographers. Photography holds the power to evoke emotions, with sports photography captivating audiences and keeping these celebrated moments frozen in time. At MPB we believe in making photography more inclusive and accessible and are delighted to be able to give three amateur winners a fantastic experience they’ll never forget and have their imagery seen by people around the world.”
