World Sports Photography Awards
Having recently announced the winners for the third World Sports Photography Awards, an exciting new competition has now opened up for amateur photographers. This is a fantastic opportunity for photographers passionate about capturing moments in sport to showcase their best shots.
Photographers can enter up to three images across all sporting categories that have been taken within the last 12 months.
Anyone who does not currently earn a regular income from sports photography is eligible to enter the amateur awards.
Amateur Sports Photography
Speaking about the Amateur chapter, World Sports Photography Awards co-founder Simon Burton said: “Sports photography is about emotion, and the story behind the image. That’s true whether it’s a world-famous athlete in a stadium or kids at a school sports day. We look forward to seeing the entries in this category which tell inspiring stories of endeavour, determination, disappointment, and celebration.”

Award Winners
Winners of the Amateur World Sports Photography Awards will receive a unique behind-the-scenes sporting event experience*, where they will spend the day with a Pro Sports Photographer shooting the event and learning more about what it takes to be a pro in the world of sports photography, whilst have the opportunity to try out their dream kit to shoot the event, provided by sponsor MPB. Winners will also receive credit to spend at MPB to enhance their creative potential.
*Experience does not include travel and accommodation, although every endeavour will be taken to make this experience as geographically close to the winners as possible.
The third World Sports Photography Awards saw David Gray win with his image of Naomi Osaka helping a butterfly at the 2021 Australian Open.
