Having my own children have meltdowns when on day trips and feel overwhelmed or sad or stimming like when they find the animal of interest in the book. I wanted to bring awareness and normalise that these are normal things that Autistic children experience.
I hope the book also helps other children to understand why others may be different. Why they may experience sensory overload or noise issues. It can also assist other siblings to understand and relate why their sibling may struggle with outings or to help siblings understand what Autism is.
I’m from Chesterfield I have a wonderful supportive husband who’s been on a long journey with me throughout our own children’s diagnosis which took four years.
I’m a secretary of a friendship society who enjoyed reading and charity work. I started writing my own book as the story its self is based on my own family. When we go on holiday my husband tells a Gerald and Josh made up story about what the children have done in the day time and what’s next to come the day after.
