I interviewed actress Sarah Jillian about her life and career, what inspires her, and her goals for the future.

Tell me a bit about yourself.

I was born with a very strong life force. I truly have excess energy.

I really enjoy Yoga, Aerobics, Swimming and long walks… and that is almost all of these activities daily.

I love Italian design and Japanese food.

I have a strong love for nature, animals and fresh air. I love the city life but I also love country living.

My favourite colour is Purple.

My favourite designer is Armani.

Sarah Jillian

My favourite song is Ruby Tuesday by The Rolling Stones.

My favourite number is 2.

And my favourite movie is Titanic.

When did you first realize you wanted to be an actor?

I realized that I wanted to be an actress at a very young age of 3 years old. I remember I was listening to the Beatles on our family record player ,and I decided that I wanted to be an entertainer as well. I actually thought that they were inside the record player and wanted to join them.

What is your favourite thing about performing?

My favourite thing about performing is seeing the smile I can bring to someone face and moving peoples emotions.

What classes or training sessions have you taken to support your acting career?

At 6 years old I started taking Acting Classes with a strict acting coach named Josephine Barrington, a British actress.

At 13, I attended a photography and animated film school run by Marty Gross. There I created a short animated film with all homemade props.

At 17, I studied movement and acting skills once again at Maggie Bassett studios in Toronto Canada.

What was your first professional acting job?

My first professional acting job was when I was 9 years old, on a C.B.C. radio program discussing Country Living with newscaster Anne Gibson in Toronto, Canada.

What was your most recent professional acting job?

Currently I am working on a feature film with a director from California that created Real People from MTV.

The production is under way, it’s a series and 2 of the parts I have already filmed, we are presently working on the third part. It’s a reality based film and a lot of crazy fun. It will be available on Vimeo video and hopefully sold to a network in the future. It is called Steinbergs World Series.

Tell me a favourite experience in your career. Something that stands out in your memories and makes you want to find more experiences like it.

I think that while being a professional clown, and seeing the great joy I could bring to an audience and the laughter I could create, makes me want to continue as a performer and watch people laugh and smile.

What was the toughest experience in your acting career?

The toughest experience for me in my acting career was when I was on stage at 6 years ago, trying to remember my lines in front of a large audience that included agents and scouts for my career. I was very frightened for the first few seconds, however to this day, I still remember my lines in the poem that I was given to recite.

Have your family and friends been supportive of your acting career?

My family and most friends were never encouraging when it came to my strong desire to be an actress. I think that is why I keep the desire to my self. However,my son has always been an amazing support to all my creative endeavours. He has always been there to listen to my hopes and dreams.

Tell me some career goals. What would you like to achieve?

I tend to think big big and believe in my acting abilities, I suppose I would love to win an Oscar, an Emmy or a Tony Award in my lifetime.

Tell me something you were surprised by, something you had never realized about being a professional actor.

As an actress I am surprised all the time about gossip, when people have stories and events that they believe happened to you when you haven’t spoken to them directly and they have stories made up out of the blue.

What are words of advice you have for other aspiring actors?

My words of advice would be…

I believe that if you truly believe that your destiny is to be an actor, you should definitely pursue it, never give up hope, never give up faith because if it is truly in your blood to become an entertainer, your souls purpose,

Just Do It, otherwise, you may never feel complete. Entertainment is the key to self expression.
