On The Table Read, the “Best Entertainment Celebrity Magazine in the UK“, podcaster Kylie Montigney discusses her Talk Of Fame Podcast and the work that goes into producing it.
Written by JJ Barnes
I interviewed podcaster Kylie Montigney about her hit podcast Talk Of Fame, what inspired her to make it, and the work that goes into running it.
I am Kylie Montigney! I am from a small town in Pennsylvania. I am a Host, Producer, Activist, Athlete, and Writer. In April 2021 I started my podcast Talk of Fame where I interview people in the Entertainment industry & Athletes to inspire younger generations that they could be anything in the world & no one can stop them and to show people that there are people like them in the world.
As of 2022 I am training for Volleyball season as I hope to make my school’s team this fall, and I am currently writing a book so I can’t wait for everyone to read & learn more about my life.
So, I grew up with two of my cousins being journalists for my local news station and I grew up being really close to one of them and I looked up to her so much and I wanted to do whatever she did.
Also, when I will be at family events people will always mention to me that I will be a great journalist since I knew everything about sports and the Entertainment industry. It went on for about two years that my family was mentioning it to me, but it wasn’t until the pandemic hit that it hit me that I would be good at it, and I should try it.
So, in April 2021 I started my podcast Talk of Fame where I interview Athletes and people in the industry to inspire younger generations that they can be anything they dream of and there are people like them.
My Podcast is called Talk of Fame! The inspiration for Talk of Fame is that I went over my sisters house to see her & my nephew and we were talking about me starting a podcast and we were trying to figure out names and so once we figured some things out she looked at me and said why don’t you call your podcast Talk of Fame since your talking with people in the entertainment industry & athletes and the name would go perfect for it and I was like 100% let’s use that.
You can find my podcast on Youtube, Spotify, Apple Podcast, and Anchor.
My podcast is about chatting with people in the Entertainment industry & Athletes to talk with them about their journeys & experiences to where they are today and inspire others that would like to be in the same position as them.
I host the Podcast alone!
At first, I had my sister edit the episodes for me because I didn’t really know how to edit videos but as time went on, I learned how to edit the videos by myself.
I usually script my podcast so I can be prepared & figure out the topics that we will chat about but at most times I will not use it & will just come up with things to chat about during the interview.
It has changed so much over the last year but the thing that changed the most is my confidence with the podcast. When I first started, I didn’t know what I was getting into & I didn’t have any confidence in myself that this would be a success. But as time went on it became more successful & I became more confident with myself.
The biggest challenges for me about being a podcast host is fitting interviews into your schedule & what works best for you. At some points I will get stressed out because there is so much on my plate with everything going on, but I have learned to balance my work & my personal life, so I don’t have to stress and worry about working all the time.
There is so many podcasts I love but the ones that stuck out to me the most is Tell me with Ellen Pompeo & Holding Kourt.
I usually promote my podcast on all of my social medias! Once the interview drops, I will post who the episode is with & the topics we chat about.
As of right now I don’t earn money from podcasting I just like to do it as a hobby but maybe somewhere down in the future I can start earning money for it.
I never expected how much work you need to put into podcasting! You must find guests, promote, edit the episodes, post the episodes & so much more that it takes so much time to do all these things.
The best piece of advice I will give people that want to start doing a podcast is Be Patient! It takes time to grow & build your platform. It may take longer than you anticipated but you will get there.
I am so proud of everything that I accomplished so far with the podcast! I got to be interviewed, make lifelong friendships, interview some of my biggest inspirations & I couldn’t be more grateful and it is really worth the effort after a while of doing the podcast.
