St. Humain and SOIN

METADRAMATIC explores the feelings that we as a whole face in our lives with our emotional relationships — with our lovers, our friends, and with even with ourselves. Sonically, the EP sees the St. Humain creating a fascinating convergence between pop, EDM and R&B.

Dial Tones (발신음)

New single, “Dial Tones (발신음)”, is a Korean two part harmony/remix of the last track off St Humain’s METADRAMATIC, featuring Seoul based artist SOIN. This new version of “Dial Tones (발신음)” was created after St. Humain went on a trip to the city, where he met SOIN through mutual contacts. Immediately dazzled by her voice, he realized he needed to collaborate with her.

“Dial Tones (발신음)” is a song of lament about love, remembering a relationship but not really missing the other person, rather needing to check whether they’re okay because of the way things ended. St. Humain explained that the first version of Dial Tones has perspective of needing to reach out, but ending up grasping at straws… However, this new duet version paints the other half of the picture, with SOIN sharing the other side of the story, opening things up and making it sweeter.

SOIN said that the song feels so innocent, discussing something that happened decade prior and couldn’t be forgotten. She wanted to say, “Hey, it’s okay,” so she did. She treasures the time spent stargazing more than any scars that may have been left behind.

Dial Tones is SOIN’s first duet, and she explained how thankful she was for the experience of singing with St. Humain on Dial Tones because his voice, music, and artistic style are so distinctive. She sincerely hopes that this song will help people who are experiencing raw emotions to find comfort in the small details of everyday life that are often overlooked.
