On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, Eric Hyde offers readers a literary feast in The Walls Have Teeth, as standalone stories come together as a disgraced detective tries to clear his name.

The Walls Have Teeth

Fuelled with ambition to become one of literature’s finest, Eric Hyde typed out the whole of Hunter S Thompson’s ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ to feel what it’s like to write a masterpiece. The first volume of his ‘The Walls’ trilogy, The Walls Have Teeth, is a collection of individual stories which have been intentionally written to read as a singular piece, as opposed to a disconnected collection.

With this collection of short stories, Hyde aims to adapt the 20th century American fiction take on horror, while adding modern themes to create a new angle on horror and Sci-Fi.

Framed for crimes he didn’t commit, a disgraced detective returns to the source of his pain to solve it. A quirky city bar: engulfed and consumed by a gelatinous mass. A confused teenager: his transformation into a vessel of darkness. This is The Walls Have Teeth. The first instalment in ‘The Walls’ trilogy.

Using the brevity of his chosen literary form to deliver precise and evocative narratives and to introduce a disgraced detective who as the protagonist takes readers down the darkest and most dangerous of rabbit holes. Eric Hyde is an exhilarating  new name on the literary block and is one who needs to be read and sought out.

Eric Hyde

Eric Hyde is an events promoter retrained in creative writing. They reside by the sea in the south of England, growing up reading the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Hunter Thompson and Stephen King – the primary guidance behind his writing style.

To develop this further, as many have done before him. Eric Hyde is a penname, invented persona and character subtly present in the work, taking the role of narrator when a character is not driving the story.
