When I set out to write The Rising, I wanted to create something epic that captured all the elements of horror I enjoyed so much as a kid. Before I knew it, I had a whole series of books on my hands: each one a love letter to a different sub-genre of horror, so I hope you enjoy the ride. With any luck you’ll discover a group of friends along the way that you can laugh, jump, and cry with, but ultimately relate to and root for as you join them on their journey into darkness. Whilst a YA novel at heart, The Rising will appeal to readers aged from 12 to 60. I was also lucky enough to win the Bookstagram YA novel of the year in 2024 as voted by Instagram’s Bookstagram community.
