I interviewed breakthrough artist Jamasi about his music career, what inspires him, and what he hopes to achieve.
I’m Zack Jamasi. For my music I go by Jamasi. I’m a new breakthrough artist from Toronto, Canada. I grew up in the community projects in Toronto, and even survived 3 near-death experiences, one of them being run-over by a car accidentally. Luckily, I was able to bounce back up and I decided to live my life to the fullest. By fullest, I mean I do a lot of things aside from my music – I have 5 professional licenses. I’m a realtor and a marketing strategist for fortune 500 companies.
I grew up listening to a lot of music in the streets. It was there that I realized that I can do and be so much more and be successful like Lil Wayne, Usher, Chris Brown, only to mention a few. So since I was young I’ve always had a liking to making my own music someday.
I started writing at an early age, It started off with poetry. I would often write about my feelings and different event that occurred in my life.
My first song released on Spotify was called Move On it was released in 2018.
The new song I’m about to release is titled No Love. It deals with trust, hardship and struggles we deal in life. I dedicate this to my friend who I’ve lost a couple of years back due to a motorbike accident.
I think my biggest challenge is how I can reach more people with my song. I’m an independent artist so advertising my music can get pretty expensive.
I usually release singles; cause the music inspiration for the songs I write comes from my everyday life. So far, this is what I’m focused with and then pretty soon I can continue working on some more of my new songs.
My songs are usually with different genre definitions of pop, twist of hip-hop and r&b.
I think No Love would be my favorite song recorded to date. Cause the things I talk about in the song are about developing trust with other people, the struggles and the hardships in life. I think it’s really relatable to a lot of people.
Yes, I do! I listen to different genres of music. But I mostly listen to Jay Z, B-Young, Usher and Lil Wayne as a few to mention.
Yes, I do ☺ however I wouldn’t mind collaborating with other artists.
I can play the Piano, clarinet and drums.
I haven’t had a chance to perform it live. But I think I would be excited to be given the chance to do that.
Yes, it’s available on Spotify, Youtube, Apple Music and other major streaming platforms.
I have a day job and another side job. So, I juggle my day from attending business meetings, interviews, recording, and dance practice.
Yes! They are. I’m so grateful of how supportive they have been with my career in music.
I didn’t realize how passionate and creative I am when it comes to writing music. I realized I am very talented when it comes to creating metaphors, similes and punch lines.
Yes, I have great experiences with my fans due to my music. I enjoy interacting and engaging with them.
I have my new song dropping on Spotify and other music platforms on September 17, 2021. But the music video will come at a later time so that’s something to watch out for.
Enjoying making your music. Enjoy being you. It’s amazing how everyday experiences could be your source of inspiration to write your next song.
Definitely, yes! ☺ I’m very proud of my accomplishments because I know I’ve worked hard to reach every single one of them.
