On The Table Read Magazine “the best book magazine in the UK“, in Fish Farce by Ian Dowding, Justin learns that the man who brought him up was not his biological dad and embarks on a mission to find his father, armed with just a photograph.

Fish Farce

Bringing together a whole host of underbelly themes including forgery, drugs, double dealing and more, Fish Farce by Ian Dowding immerses readers in the tale of Justin’s search for his biological dad. Keeping readers guessing until the end, Fish Farce bursts with vibrant characters, conflict and drama and a descriptive language that makes you feel that you’re actually soaking up the sea air and fishy aroma of Cocklebury-on-Sea.

Journeying to Cocklebury-on-sea to find his real father, his only lead is a photograph, Justing finds sleaze, scams, double dealing, blackmail, Elvis impersonators, pyromania, art forgery, nudity, sex, drugs, heavy metal……and fish.

Meanwhile, councillor’s daughter, Jo, has lied about her age to take a part time modelling job, club owner, Ray wants to open an amusement arcade but the land he wants is not for sale, and, after a misspent youth, Ben just wants to settle down and paint but his past keeps catching up with him.

An example of pitch-perfect British storytelling, Fish Farce is deserving of its chance to shine in the literary spotlight. And for all those with a connection with the south coast, or a passion for novels about ordinary people getting involved in extraordinary things, Fish Farce is the ideal read.
