A jazz graduate of Trinity Laban. and a student of The Brit School, Rowan’s music blends jazz, pop and folk. Inspired by a wide range of artists, she particularly loves the music of Astrud Gilberto, Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek, Norah Jones, and Gretchen Parlato, as well as more downtempo dance music from bands like Bonobo, Zero-7, Armada Foxes, and Residents. This blend of influences has given Rowan a textured palette of sounds and personalities to draw from while creating her own music.

Rowan Flack’s new single, Tipsy On The Tongue is full of soul pop sounds, while also respecting her jazz origins. Her velvet vocals and layered harmonies make an inebriating, all-consuming air, as luxurious piano calming percussion melt into an entrancing aural mixture.

Rowan explained that she has reached a phase of her life where she is continually finding both flaws and positives in herself, and tends to want to communicate this personal experience. With the verses sharing her vulnerability, Tipsy On The Tongue centers around the flaws in her character during an argument and how the love languages of two people don’t always match up.

With themes of mindfulness and reflection, Rowan writes about the importance of communication and being honest about your feelings. Her new music is her most private work to date, as she has taken the opportunity to be empowered by writing and releasing truly personal music.

Flack’s music represents the experience she has accumulated from different creative products which have taken her to all sides of the globe, including Norway and China. With her EP Forest Fires due for release this year, Rowan Flack is going to make some waves.
