On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, Brian N Clarke’s new sci-fi novel, Break for the Stars combines NASA, SpaceX and others with the Horizon Spaceship for an intriguing fictional take on where space exploration will take us.

Break For The Stars

Brian N Clarke’s passion since childhood for all things space related is infused into every page of his debut novel, Break For The Stars, confirming him as an exciting and vibrant new literary voice in the sci-fi genre. With a storyline sufficiently intriguing to spawn two series from the same literary starting point, Break for the Stars feels strangely plausible as a result of his decision to feature real life organisations and technologies.

Chris Terrago trains with a small group of astronauts to become the crew of the Horizon Spaceship, constructed by SpaceX and NASA, for a mission to the stars. But when mass attacks, bombings and terror reveal that the powerful Life Sanctity Group has its own mission, to stop the launch, a dangerous battle of wits ensues.

Special Agent Decker Johns and his team hit dead ends and dead bodies in a frantic race to protect the lives of exploration crew and their mission.

This is the first book in a multi-title series, of space, terror, and a whole host of “what-if” scenarios, set in the near future which provides a unique lens through which to explore the good, the bad and the ugly elements of the human experience and the universe.

And with the first books in both his news series just published (with Chris Terrago heading up The Ranger series and FBI agent Decker Johns in his eponymously named series) Brian Clarke’s fanbase is just about to go stratospheric.

I’m originally from Glasgow, but now live in London and write my novels from a small club on the banks of the Thames. I studied at Edinburgh University, graduating with an Economics and Business degree,  worked for several years in Scotland before a short stint in France, then the US and am now based in SW London running a small business, advising clients on security.

I have been following SpaceX since they first start launching, Tesla since watching Top Gear, NASA since the Apollo missions, Crime since well enough said…. and wanted to weave these topics into the series narratives.

I grew up reading science fiction, from Asimov to Heinlein, Reynolds to PK Dick and Huxley to Banks, but also love thrillers and action stories.  I love outdoor sports including sailing, golf and skiing but pottering about on the water is a must.
