On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, Raise Your Other Right Hand by Jody Weiner is a darkly funny, suspenseful legal thriller where attorney Archie Krafter tackles a high-stakes NBA star’s trial and mafia family drama, testing love and loyalty on a twisted road to redemption.

Raise Your Other Right Hand

In his gripping new novel, Raise Your Other Right Hand, author and attorney Jody Weiner delivers a darkly humorous, suspenseful page-turner that weaves together high-stakes legal drama, complex family dynamics, and the unpredictable pursuit of redemption. With a cast of flawed yet compelling characters, Weiner crafts a fast-paced narrative that keeps readers on edge until its satisfying and unexpected conclusion.

At the heart of the story is Archie Krafter, a seasoned attorney who has traded courtroom chaos for a quieter life with his wife, Lora, a talented musician and proprietor of a small repertory theater. Happily married for 13 years, Archie and Lora share a bond strengthened by their compatible neuroses, often blurring the lines between their personal and professional lives. Archie spends his days penning The Naked Lawyer, a current events blog, while dodging Lora’s notorious mafia-connected family. But when NBA superstar Radon Jaalaba goes missing after a shocking incident, Archie is thrust back into the legal spotlight with the case of his career.
Radon, once America’s basketball hero, vanishes from a nationally televised Christmas game after fleeing the scene of a drug-related shooting that claims the lives of his driver and intimate friend, Russell Marchetti, and a responding police officer. Now on trial for his life, Radon grapples with addiction and a career-threatening secret that could unravel everything. As Archie navigates the high-profile case, the pressure mounts, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Complicating matters is Lora’s estranged father, Sal Dellacozzi, the aging “Rapini King” of Northern California. When Sal suffers a stroke, he calls on Lora to look after her younger brother, Dominic, who finds himself entangled in an international identity theft ring operating from a Dellacozzi Industries building. Unjustly accused, Dominic turns to Archie for legal help, pulling the attorney deeper into the murky world of Lora’s mafia-adjacent family. As Archie juggles Radon’s trial and Dominic’s case, he and Lora face challenges that test their marriage in ways they never imagined.

Weiner’s storytelling shines through his ability to balance dark humor with suspense, creating a narrative that is as entertaining as it is thought-provoking. Archie and Lora’s relationship, marked by love and mutual quirks, serves as the emotional anchor of the novel, even as their lives spiral into chaos. The supporting cast— from the troubled Radon to the enigmatic Dellacozzi family—adds depth and intrigue, each character grappling with their own demons and desires for redemption.
Raise Your Other Right Hand is a thrilling exploration of justice, loyalty, and the ties that bind us, for better or worse. Weiner’s legal expertise and sharp wit bring authenticity and levity to this tale of courtroom battles and family secrets, making it a must-read for fans of legal thrillers and character-driven dramas alike. As Archie and Lora race toward Radon and Dominic’s days of reckoning, readers will find themselves captivated by a story that is as unpredictable as it is rewarding.
