Pollena Releases New Single, Diamonds, With A Video Starring Jack Holden

On The Table Read, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, London-based neo-soul artist Pollena has released the video for the new single “Diamonds” starring the award-nominated writer and actor Jack Holden.

Pollena found acclaim from the likes of Notion, The Line of Best Fit, BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music, Under the Radar, Beats Per Minute and Earmilk with her debut EP Rising, due out in December. Rising stands out by giving us a reason for optimism, and even seeks to find power in the fight for a better life, especially in these challenging times.

Pollena’s signature rich, smooth vocals delivers raw and honest themes. The EP blends genres, from neo-soul to house, electronica and R&B, in an accomplished celebration of individuality, resilience and vulnerability.

Star of the critically acclaimed West End show ‘Cruise’ and BBC’s ‘Marriage’, Jack Holden performs as a theater technician on the cusp of exploring his true passion.

His first steps into his own limelight represent the journey we’re all on to find ourselves and is reflected in the other characters we see – parents, families, and children, all trying to express themselves in love and creativity.

Cruise earned Holden a nomination for an Olivier Award and received industry-wide praise, with The Guardian celebrating his performance for “the hedonistic pleasures, the thrill of dance and the strength of the queer community”.

Each story embodies the track’s core message of fighting against societal pressures that force us into lives and roles we don’t fit. Diamonds is a glowing house and UK Garage-inspired track with a powerful message

“I’m tired of society dictating how we should live our lives. With Diamonds, I want to encourage listeners to fight for what makes them happy, for a better, truer life,” explained Pollena.

Holden stars alongside a cast of dancers and families in the piece conceptualized and directed by Georgia Rajah, best known for her work on the BBC documentary ‘Learning To Grieve.’
