On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, Dea Doyle’s new single, Over You, is a gritty new pop song about leaving a relationship because you don’t need anybody.
West London-based singer/songwriter Dea Doyle was born into a musical family and has always known she wants to be a singer, writing her first song at just nine years old. She writes witty lyrics about life, love, and heartbreak, always ending with a memorable chorus, and her influences include Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, Hall & Oates, and Haim.
Dea Doyle’s new single, “Over You,” is about breaking up with someone and feeling like you no longer need them. Dea wrote this song at a time in her life when she felt liberated, feeling that if she can get over someone that she once loved, then maybe she would never need someone ever again. Although she flips the concept on its head at the very end and wonders if she really is over them, the song as a whole is about feeling emotionally detached and regaining her independence.
“Over You” features Dea’s impressive, warm honey vocals that glide over a punchy drumline and melodic guitars that provide an overall gritty edge, beginning with raw snippets of background sounds of children playing. “Over You” has a grungy, angsty sound, reminiscent of Cheryl Crow and Alanis Morrisette from the 90s.
Dea wants you to know that there is always something better out there, hoping to inspire listeners to leave unhealthy relationships that are no longer serving you. Dea would like her music to celebrate women in particular and urge them to be unapologetic for who they are and just to have fun really.
