On The Table Read, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, Opāru has released a new experimental synth pop EP, Gold, about the human mind moving from the dark to the light.
Experimental synth pop artist Opāru has released a new four track EP entitled Gold, which represents the transformation of the human mind as it moves from the dark to the light.
“Gold is the hope in us all for a better place, the internal drive of our heart,” explained Opāru. “This EP takes the listener on a journey through the various stages of becoming clear on their journey to their path to greatness. Each song represents a different part of the journey. Gold is the final destination.”
Opāru is the stricking musical undertaking of Los Angeles-based musician, artist, and entertainer Dianna St. Hilaire. The music of Opāru can be described as dark, ethereal electro. Opāru’s work is a one-of-a-kind representation of contemporary synth-pop culture thanks to the dreamy operatic vocals and Opāru’s work.
St. Hilaire, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, began writing music at a young age and performing it in choir and musicals. Her first instrument was the piano, and she worked hard to teach herself how to read and write music. When St. Hilaire was in her late teens, she started working as a backup and studio vocalist for producers and punk bands in New Mexico. That’s where she started using her first musical alias, the highly successful Versailles. She has gone on numerous US tours with the notorious Kim Fowley (The Runaways, Kiss, Joan Jett, Alice Cooper), been on official Grammy ballots, and charted on Billboard. Additionally, popular stations across the United States, such as KROQ and NPR tastemaker KCRW, played Versailles’s music on repeat.
At the end of 2015, St. Hilaire launched the brand-new project Opāru, taken from the Japanese name for the opal, St. Hilaire’s birthstone. Experimental electronic, synth-pop from the 1980s, and alternative rock are where Opāru started.
“The underlying theme in my music is the workings of the inner voice,” said Opāru. “The internal person that lingers buried under insecurities and fears. Why are there so many? Why do we as human beings tolerate environments where these feelings are projected onto us?”
Right now, Opāru is working with different music libraries in the US including Megatrax, MPath and APM. EMI and Universal Music in other countries She just finished her second album, We Are Eternity, which she released with Megatrax and is available on all major streaming services, including Pandora and Spotify.
GOLD, Opru’s most recent EP, was mixed by Nick Dillinger and produced by Niko Korolog. The EP is a demonstration of the human battle and the many phases of that battle. Including dim tunes, acoustic guitars, shimmery 80 synth pop beats and strong symphonic developments. Gold is the inner drive of our hearts and the hope we all have for a better world. The listener is taken on a journey through the various stages of understanding their ascent to greatness by this EP. The journey is represented in different ways by each song. The final destination is gold.
