On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, post-thrash metal band Primatron have released a powerful and progressive new single, One More Usurper.
Primatron, a Curitiba-based metal band whose sound is not restricted to any one style or subgenre, has released a new single titled One More Usurper. The band always aims to create music with an atmosphere that reflects the depressing climate of living in a time of constant crisis, and their sound naturally flows between industrial metal and nuances of extreme metal. Making uplifting music that reflects the spirit of our time is Primatron’s mission.
In addition to being extremely aggressive and heavy, the brand-new single One More Usurper has a strong sense of cohesion among the various sections.
The project’s creator, Diogo, explained that some aspects of recording become easier and one can concentrate on others as one gets more practice in the studio. He believes that this is evident in the vocal melodies, the complexity of the verse riffs, and the tempo changes; however, he is aware that every musician believes that their most recent work is their best up to that point, so he may be biased in his assertion. However, despite this, he is willing to claim that it is the Primatron project’s best song to date, and he finds it cool that this song demonstrates that the riffs contain heaviness and aggression rather than relying solely on extremely low tunings.
Diogo had already written some riffs for the project before it started, and some of them were even used in other projects he worked on, like Machina Animata and Shadow Maze. Diogo had time to work on additional riffs, compose music, and begin writing lyrics during the pandemic. Also, he decided to start recording the songs for the EP “Night Falls Heavy” at the beginning of 2022, when he already had some songs almost finished. Aly Fioren, guitarist for the Brazilian bands Urvolk, Carttada, and Sad Theory and owner of Funds House Studio, produced and recorded all of the songs.
When he was reading about technology news in a newspaper, Diogo came up with the name Primatron. As he recorded the EP, he became increasingly aware of the interdependence between man and machine. As a result, he came up with the idea for a name that would express a certain angst about the process of becoming less and less independent of technology.
