I wanted to make something that sounded like if ‘Songs About Jane’ era Maroon 5 had a love child with current day Anderson .Paak. I wanted the song to be a concert in a bottle. Funky, soulful, live with a big hook.

Rex & The Rhythm, a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and producer, honed his musical skills amidst the legendary soundscape of Eddy Grant’s studio on the historic Barbadian plantation where he grew up.

Rex’s musical journey began at nine with the drums, expanding to guitar and bass. At 15, he joined his mother’s band, Cover Drive, achieving international success with three UK top ten hits and opening for global icons like Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, and Lauryn Hill.

After graduating from Full Sail University, Rex embarked on his solo career, releasing his debut EP, “#127 Solace,” in 2021. His signature sound blends the infectious energy of his previous band with a more alternative R&B vibe. Subsequent releases, including “Secrets Behind Our Smiles” and the recent singles “Highs & Grows” and “Umbrella,” showcase his evolving artistry, drawing inspiration from 90s hip-hop legends and contemporary influences like Anderson .Paak. “Highs & Grows,” in particular, is a captivating blend of psychedelic soul, alt-pop, and hip-hop, offering a cosmic journey of self-discovery.
