On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, Marlow has released his new single and accompanying music video, Over, about holding on tight in a relationship.
Freddie Marlow, a singer, songwriter, and model from Eastbourne, is in charge of the project Marlow. The music speaks from the depths of his heart and is delivered with a hint of mystique, creating a sonic world that is only about feeling. Even though Freddie is in charge, Marlow is still entirely a team effort, with Angus on guitar, Seb on bass, Archie on synthesizer, and Liam on drums working closely with Freddie on everything.
Through a dynamic surge and zesty, contemporary approach, Marlow draws listeners in with a soundtrack to help you get through the ups and downs of life, alleviate sadness, and reflect on everything we experience as humans. They have an infectious alt-pop rock sound and lyrics that are emotional and heartfelt.
“Over” is the first single from Marlow’s upcoming EP, Home, due later this year, with a clever video directed by William Pope. This is a song with a lot of positive energy that tries to depict someone trying to hold on to something too tightly and hoping the other person won’t let go.
Freddie explained that the song was inspired by real events in his relationships. There are times when they coulnd’t talk to each other, and he worried that the other person might leave him at any moment. He has tried to portray in the verses how he would look at someone and try to find all the things he wanted to say. The song is not depressing; rather, it is upbeat and reflective of the conflict thanks to the shiny synths and pounding drums. The listener will be able to think, reflect, and feel thanks to the simple lyrics.
The song “I’m Not Leaving” is also on the EP. It has a driving, upbeat chorus, warm, emotional vocals, and a guitar line that keeps echoing. Freddie explained that this track was inspired by his girlfriend going through a tough time, stressing the significance of being there for the one you love.
Freddie explained that he is heavily inspired by emotional moments in film and television. He tries to imagine that all of his songs are playing in the background of a sad, happy, or dramatic scene in a movie or TV show. Relationships also motivate him, in particular my own, and he enjoys writing songs that are emotionally charged and express how he feels about a situation.
