On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, David Wellbrook’s fourth book of short and not so short stories, Zoo, offers up an absorbing mix of twenty tales from humour to horror, to non-fiction and stand-out drama.

ZOO

ZOO, David Wellbrook’s fourth published collection of twenty short and shorter stories, is a mix up of literary tone and levity delivered in one handy bundle.

Having started his career writing on the Daily Mail, Wellbrook expertly cuts his wordcount down to the bone in his stories, whilst still ensuring that none of the nuance, action or climax of his narration is lost. Inspiration for the more amusing stories (which he confirms generally ring true to what happened) is pulled from his vast array of life experiences.

Since the pandemic, short stories have found a new lease of life that has publishers looking more favourably on the genre. David Wellbrook’s passion for the format ensures a constant contrast as readers read their way through this compelling assortment, putting him squarely at the forefront of the literary zeitgeist. With an eclectic mix of short stories that will amuse even the hardened of personalities, ZOO has something for everyone, hence the title.
