On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, in A Paris Odyssey by Axel Forrester, Grant Decker, an American photographer, finds himself immersed in the pleasures of a different Paris, the one that iconic photographers have captured over the years and that Hemmingway has described.
Grant, an American photographer, is on assignment in Paris. He realizes how unprepared he is to navigate this unfamiliar world, where the language is both vaguely familiar and perplexing when he gets to the Gare du Nord train station. Riding the metro across the city, with the intention of learning his way around, Grant discovers a different Paris when he makes new friends among street performers. He is able to sharpen his eye and open his heart to the numerous love stories that weave through “the city of light” thanks to these eccentric characters.
This charming, funny, and touching novella, which has already won a Gold Award of Achievement from the International Review of Books, finds the author’s adventurous photographer, whose previous Odyssey adventures have taken him to Cornwall and China, making unexpected friends and experiencing a Paris that most tourists never get to see.
This latest adventure will also stoke daydreams of being immersed in the beauty, romance, and quirkiness of the French capital, which the Odyssey series provides as a wonderful break from the humdrum of everyday life. A Paris Odyssey is a captivating tale of adventure, friendship, and love that is funny, touching, and magical.
