On The Table Read, “the best book magazine in the UK“, Chris Dixon releases new book, That’s Okay, to help children understand their emotions and the impact they have.
Taking Care of Mental Health at an Early Age.
Emotions can feel strange for adults and children. Sometimes it can be hard to know how you feel and why. That’s why these colourful creatures are here to help.
From start to finish the book doesn’t seem like an ‘educational’ book but more of something fun to read. Whilst keeping it light, it helps develop the right attitudes to emotions whilst educating young children of how they impact them.
An Extensive Range of Emotions Covered.
Through the book, you and your child will meet them all. They all have different emotions from happy to sad. Emotions that are included are – Happy, Sad, Shy, Excited, Confused, Grumpy, Okay, Surprised, Hurt, Bored, Nervous, Jealous, Disappointed, Angry, Embarrassed.
Helping Children Identify Emotions.
The book has been created to help children identify what emotions they are feeling and that they don’t have to be scary or upsetting. It should also help children and adults, whether that’s a parent, teacher, or counsellor, to communicate about feelings.
The book is illustrated with hand-drawn colourful creatures, so that children can read through and enjoy the book whilst learning.
The Importance of Wellbeing and Mindfulness.
The importance of wellbeing and the mindfulness of adults starts at an early age, and this is the perfect book to help build healthy foundations for a better mental health state in later life. By approaching the subject of emotions with young children it helps them build a better and stronger coping system of which can be applied in later life, and certainly when faced in stressful situations whether at work, home or even in relationships with others.
Creating Better Engagement.
One of the beauties of the book is that it makes it fun and creates a much better engagement and therefore understanding of emotions and their impact in everyday life.
What the Author Says.
The author, Chris Dixon commented, when asked why he wrote the book, ‘Like many other people I’ve had my fair share of “mental health” challenges over the last few years. I’ve had waves of anxiety and depression during my mid-twenties which seemed to hang around for a couple of years, accompanied by physical symptoms including a chronic and nauseating tension headache which never seemed to cease. This made the psychological side much more difficult to cope with.’
The book is aimed at young children between the ages of 4 and 8 and can be used in a variety of environments such as the classroom, reading at home or through therapy sessions. It is an ideal learning tool for these soon to be young adults to build a healthy mental state and prepare them for later life.
Book Availability.
The book is available in physical copy as well as eBook form that is suitable for laptops, PC’s tablets, and most digital devices. You can find out more at https://thatsokay.co.uk/
