At the heart of our story is Horton, the gentle and kind-hearted elephant. He discovers a tiny speck of dust, home to the microscopic world of Whoville. There, he meets JoJo, a bright and imaginative Who child sent to military school for having too many “thinks.”
Horton, with his unwavering sense of justice, vows to protect the Whos, even when no one else believes they exist. He also takes on the responsibility of caring for an abandoned egg, left in his charge by the flighty Mayzie la Bird.
As Horton tries to convince the other jungle animals of the Whos’ existence, he faces ridicule and is even put on trial for insanity. But through it all, his loyal neighbor, Gertrude McFuzz, never loses faith in him.

Do you have a budding performer in your family? Are they passionate about singing, dancing, or acting? If you’re in Stafford or the surrounding areas, Musical Youth Theatre Stafford (MYTS) could be the perfect place for them to flourish!
Established in 2007, MYTS, the junior arm of Musical Theatre Stafford (MTS), has been dedicated to nurturing the talents of young people aged 8 to 18. Their mission goes beyond just teaching performance skills; they aim to build confidence, self-esteem, and a deep understanding of what it takes to captivate an audience.
From Rehearsal Room to the Big Stage
Every year, MYTS stages a spectacular full-scale production at the prestigious Stafford Gatehouse Theatre. Imagine your child performing with elaborate sets and a live band! This year, they are thrilled to announce our 2025 production: “Seussical The Musical,” hitting the Gatehouse stage from Wednesday, July 16th to Saturday, July 19th, 2025.
But that’s not all! MYTS offers a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year. They bring festive cheer with a Christmas concert at Crown Wharf Theatre in Stone and participate in local events like the Stafford Food and Music Festival and Stone Rocks. Plus, their members sometimes get the chance to audition for shows put on by our senior group, Musical Theatre Stafford (MTS), like this year’s production of “Evita.”
They are incredibly proud of their achievements, including three prestigious NODA “Best Youth Production” awards for “Children of Eden” (2011), “Honk!” (2015), and “Wind in the Willows” (2022). They have also received nominations for “Legally Blonde,” “High School Musical,” “Godspell,” and “We Will Rock You,” showcasing the consistent quality of their productions.

MYTS weekly rehearsals take place every Friday from 7 pm to 9 pm during term time at Parkside Primary School, with occasional Sunday rehearsals scheduled. They focus on developing comprehensive performance skills, including singing, acting, and dancing.
