When I started writing the novel, I envisioned it as a straightforward thriller, but as creative endeavours tend to do, it soon took on a life of its own.

The story became an intense love story set against the harsh realities of human trafficking and corporate greed. As someone who’s spent my entire life in Yorkshire and traveled across Europe, I’ve seen firsthand the beauty and darkness that exists in the world. I wanted to explore that specific contrast in this novel. Writing ‘Miss’ was a deeply personal experience – each setting, each character – they all reflect part of my life and my imagination. At the heart of it, the novel is about the strength of love, even in the darkest of times. I hope it resonates with readers as much as it did with me while I was writing it.
