On The Table Read, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, Tiffani Neilson talks about her podcast, Mind2Mind, which she co-hosts with data analytics and efficiency expert, Dr. Joe Perez.
Written by JJ Barnes
I interviewed Tiffani Neilson about her work with IoT Marketing, what inspired them to create the Mind2Mind video podcast, co hosted with Dr Joe. Perez, and the work that goes into producing it.
Tell me a bit about who you are.
I’m Tiffani Neilson, and I’m the Chief Marketing Officer at IoT Marketing, an integrated marketing firm that specializes in launching and fueling the growth of IoT and high-tech companies. I am also the creator and host of IoT Marketing’s Mind2Mind video podcast, a monthly live discussion with Dr. Joe Perez, where we share what is on our minds.
Additionally, I host the company’s Industry Insights Webinars virtual event series intended to educate those interested in or in need of connected solutions, as well as IoT Marketing Live and IoT Marketing Industry News, which are monthly news broadcasts covering the latest in IoT and high-tech.
How and why did you start podcasting?
With both of us having such unique backgrounds and interesting takes on certain topics, my co-host Dr. Joe and I wanted to share our knowledge, experiences, and advice with others. We figured that a podcast would be an ideal platform for us to do just that.
Also, we decided to go with a video podcast format instead of purely an audio one because we wanted our show to be visually engaging with our audience. We want them to see our facial expressions and our laughs, and we feel like this makes our show a lot more personable.
What is your current podcast called, and how did you come up with the name?
Our podcast is called Mind2Mind. The name plays on the fact that we’re two like-minded individuals sharing our thoughts.
What platforms can we find Mind2Mind on?
Our shows are on LinkedIn, YouTube, and Facebook right now. We’re also looking to expand to other platforms like Apple and Spotify.
What is Mind2Mind about?
We cover a broad range of topics, such as education, success strategies, mental health, sustainable living, and so much more. Our goals are to expand knowledge about a certain topic and to help people grow either professionally or personally.
Do you host Mind2Mind alone, or have guest hosts/partners?
I co-host Mind2Mind with Dr. Joe Perez, who is a sought-after thought leader in data analytics and a specialist in efficiency and process improvement.
Do you edit Mind2Mind or have someone who does it for you?
I edit the podcast alongside my team at IoT Marketing.
Do you script Mind2Mind, or just chat as you go?
We do have a script outline for specifics of what we want to talk about. Other than that, our discussions are completely natural.
How has Mind2Mind changed or developed since you began?
I believe that we’ve gotten into a better flow with our podcast. Our discussions are a lot more fluid. We’ve also started adding some relevant statistics and research, which have helped make our discussions more data-driven.
What are your biggest challenges with Mind2Mind?
Always making sure that we keep our content as informative and educational as it is entertaining and engaging. We also want to ensure that we’re covering topics that our audience finds interesting.
What are your favourite podcasts to listen to?
IoT Podcast – Internet of Things with Stacey Higginbotham
IoT For All podcast
Russell Brand podcast
How and where do you promote Mind2Mind?
Dr. Joe and I have a large supportive network and promote our podcast through our social media accounts: LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. At IoT Marketing, we also promote it on the company’s social media accounts.
Do you earn money from Mind2Mind, or is it a hobby?
Mind2Mind gives me a medium to express myself outside the confines of the IoT and technology umbrella; However, because the podcast is produced by IoT Marketing, in addition to our informative discussions, we also use it as a medium to promote our products and services.
What’s something you never expected about podcasting? What have you learned that surprised you?
What I did not expect was how many platforms there are and what I have learned is that not all platforms are created equal. You have to find the one that is right for you. As we expand our podcast, we will find the right match to take it to the next level.
What is the first piece of advice you would give to anyone inspired to start podcasting?
If you want to podcast for the fun of it, just get started. But if you are making it a career, take the time to really plan out your podcast before putting it out. From ensuring clear audio quality to creating a content schedule, it’s a lot of work to run a podcast. So, make sure you have a plan laid out before starting.
And, finally, are you proud of what you’re accomplishing with Mind2Mind? Is it worth the effort?
Dr. Joe and I enjoy having these podcast discussions. We’ve also seen our viewership, both live and recorded, grow over time. We look forward to developing the show further and expanding our presence to make a positive, meaningful, and lasting impact on the minds and lives of others.
