Mike Rogers

Mike Rogers

Amsterdam based indie dance trio Mike Rogers make big musical gestures without sensationalism. Mike Mago, TWR72 and the lead singer of Kita Menari have joined forces to encourage listeners to live in the moment with music unlike anything you’ve heard before.

After meeting in the famous Dutch underground electro parties of the early 2000s, where they both performed as DJ’s, Mike and Roger played a mixture of electro, French house, fidget and techno. As they started to develop their own sound, the duo realised they aspired to start a live act. Inspired by the acts they grew up with, such as Mike Snow, Foals, Editors, Van She and Goose, they created Mike Rogers, to develop their DJ and production career. When they brought in lead singer Micha to add big vocals, the combined creativity of the three brought their signature sound to a whole new level.

Mike Rogers’ upcoming debut album explores the roots of their inspiration with a blend analog and digital, retro and modern, as they combine all the skills they have developed over the years.

Live Out Loud

Live Out Loud is the pinnacle song from their debut album and cuts two ways. Written during a period where they felt like far sides of the political spectrum were very present, they wanted to motivate the silent middle to stand up for their (slightly more nuanced) thoughts, visions, and ideas. They believe we all have to live out loud more because if you don’t live life fully, you don’t live life at all.

During the writing process, they shoot over short ideas to each other, and then these ideas are either dropped or picked up and developed until there is an album.

Mike Rogers is sharing the need to go out there and live in the moment without having to choose sides. The music represents this throughout as styles from opposite sides are mixed to create a perfect balance in the middle, which sometimes leaves listeners with an ambiguous feeling.
