On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, Jude Gorini’s new novel, The Colourblind Grief, takes readers to London 2011 where Daniel embraces every excess putting his mental health on the brink, before experiencing a rebirth previously beyond imagination.

The Colourblind Grief

Jude Gorini’s first novel, The Colourblind Grief, recounts a journey of self-discovery from bodacious and mental health damaging excess to sandy beaches and inner peace. Written in the first person, Latino queer protagonist, Daniel shares the tumultuous life experiences from the toxicity of his previous life to the serenity that inhabits his day-to-day a decade later. This confessional novel brings into play all of contemporary life’s big issues, mental health, sexual identity, self-doubt and more.

Set in London in 2011, the year before the Olympics, Daniel is just starting his journey into self-destruction with mental health issues that warp his life. He is living a life of toxic love with sex, drugs and rock & roll as his sustenance.  10 years later, everything has changed. Was it just a lie created by his family, or by his mind?

This journey of death and rebirth, through obsession and healing, towards discovery of the inner self takes place within the gay club scene of East London, before moving to Europe and the serene, sandy beaches of La Graciosa.
