Written by JJ Barnes
I interviewed Ruben Rojas about his podcast, Live Through Love, what inspired him to make it, and the work that goes into producing it.
My name is Ruben Rojas. I am a self-taught artist who traded in my suit for a paintbrush to pursue my dream of being a full-time artist. Since 2013, I have been transforming blank walls all over the world into unique, empowering messages to uplift communities and create dialogue.
The mission is to ignite creativity and inspire people to see the world through the lens of love while creating iconic love artwork. I have made my art accessible to everyone through my fashion line known for its tag line “Live Through Love” that incorporates my signature love art.
Privately, I am happily married to entrepreneur, Zee Rojas, and father of a precious baby boy, Remmy, and an almost human-like dog, Tuesday.
Podcasting has always interested me, especially as an avid podcast consumer. The largest obstacle keeping me from starting my show was time and executing something of value not only in the value of the content but the production, as well. It is a new medium to share my message of “ Live Through Love” while showcasing my creativity and highlighting some of the amazing people I have met in my life.
The show is called Live Through Love. The title is my tag line, the very ethos of the brand that I have built and am continuing to expand. Nike says, “Just Do It!” I say, “Live Through Love!”
You can find it on Apple Podcast, Spotify and watch it on YouTube. We publish the feed through Libsyn, so wherever else that links too as well.
This will be a new way to experience what it is to live through love.“-Ruben Rojas Live Through Love is a way of life. Living through love is an active choice from the heart. It may be much easier to live in gloom and act from fear, but when you live through love, life is so much more beautiful.
As an artist, Ruben is inspired by people. People who interact with his work and people who are out there sharing their stories and their gifts with the world. There are so many incredible people on this planet and Ruben wants to showcase them and how they live through love. From Chefs and athletes to business people, musicians, and artists of all kinds, you can expect to hear only from people who are embodying love every single day.
But that’s not all… Ruben wants to make a statement, too. If you’re seeking a change in perspective and want more love in all areas of your life, this is for you. Tune in to join the movement and learn how to LIVE THROUGH LOVE!
I host the show and bring on a guest or speak as a solo episode.
I do not, if that was the case we might not be speaking. LOL I have teamed up with Operation Podcast who does all the backend production work for me and are an integral piece in bringing this to life!
It is a completely organic conversation. I never know where I will go with a guest, but I do know we want them to define what living through love means to them and showcase their expertise and story through the lens of love.
We’re still in its infancy… We have some lofty goals and if many of the other things line up well it can definitely go in different directions. But ultimately the main goal is to evolve as the show evolves, improve as a host, share more stories and elevate the presentation.
The biggest challenge is holding myself back from getting ahead of myself. This is a marathon not a sprint. I am extremely happy with where we have begun and want to make sure we keep forward momentum. I would add that asking guest on to the show is a challenge for me as it takes some vulnerability especially when I reach out to the really big fish.
Some of my favorite podcasts are The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes, On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Ever Forward with Chase Chewning and whatever subject matter I am curious about. I also listen to all of my friends’ shows as well.
I promote my podcast via my social channels, my website, linkedIn and email newsletters.
I did not set out with the intention of earning money from my show but of course it is welcomed. The show is an extension of the Live Through Love Universe. It is sharing the message through the podcasting platform. It is definitely not a hobby. This is all part of my and my family’s livelihood.
I did not expect to enjoy it so much and enjoy the entire process. Even though I know which episode is coming up, I get excited every week for its release. Of course, I’ll give it a listen too. I do this not only to relearn the convo but for practice to see how I can improve as a host.
What surprised me was how receptive the audience has been to the show, and to be honest every time I end an episode, I feel like I botched it. I go in circles within my thoughts about it. Did the message come across in the best way? Did I say too little or too much? It ends up being a completely different experience when it is released .
It is the same advice I give to any creator – It is never the right time until you make it the right time! So just get out there and do it.
And, finally, are you proud of what you’re accomplishing with your podcast? Is it worth the effort? Yes, yes and yes! I also know that this is part of a bigger vision and it’s a long play.
