Just 15 It Could Be Rotterdam by Andy Dale

Just 15 – It Could Be Rotterdam is a nostalgic journey back to the 1980s, capturing the excitement, angst, and euphoria of teenage life. Andy Dale’s sequel to the acclaimed Just 14 continues to delight readers with its blend of real-life events and fictional storytelling.

Set against the backdrop of Aston Villa’s 1981/82 season, the novel explores themes of friendship, first love, and the passionate rivalry between football teams. Dale’s writing style, reminiscent of Sue Townsend, creates a relatable and engaging narrative that will resonate with fans of 80s nostalgia.

As Jonathan Stadler enters his fifteenth year, he’s eager to embrace the new season, filled with anticipation for Aston Villa’s European Cup adventure. However, the loss of his grandfathers adds a layer of complexity to his journey.

The novel beautifully captures the dynamics of teenage friendships, exploring the challenges and triumphs of navigating life’s ups and downs. With its authentic portrayal of the 1980s, Just 15 – It Could Be Rotterdam is a must-read for fans of coming-of-age stories and football history.

My books, I hope appeal to the sense of humour of the male reader in his 40’s. At some point in our lives we have all found ourselves in the kind of situations that Jonathan does. My influences have been two terrific authors in Mike Gayle and Nick Hornby.

An IT consultant by day, I really always wanted to be, in the words of the Beatles, a ‘Paperback Writer’. So finally I have released my first fictional romantic comedy, ‘First Years – Piranhas in the Bedroom’. Hopefully the first of a series of nostalgic books about an unfortunate young man called Jonathan Stadler, a Villa fan like me.

Next up in my mid-life crisis: launching a series of children’s books. Do you think the world is prepared for ‘King Derek and the Wonder Wizards’?
