On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, in new single, Martyr, Jake Huffman explores a commentary on dying on a hill in euphoric indie pop rock.

Jake Huffman

Jake Huffman, an artist from Connecticut who lives and works all over the world, creates a euphoric realm of indie pop rock. The multi-instrumentalist was previously well-known for his work in the viral alt rock band McLovins as lead vocalist and drummer. Huffman returns with a complete arsenal of new music, all of which have been written, performed, and produced by Jake himself after he took the time to rediscover who he is as a solo artist.

The most recent project by Huffman combines his extensive experience and musical influences. Huffman and his band, McLovins, uploaded a cover of Phish’s “You Enjoy Myself” to YouTube when he was 14 from his Connecticut parents’ basement. The video went viral overnight and sparked a worldwide fervent fan base. He has performed with Blink-182, Foster The People, BB King, and The Flaming Lips since then.

Rolling Stone, US Weekly, NPR, and the legendary XPN Radio Programming Director and DJ Bruce Warren have all heaped humble praise on Huffman. He has also caught the attention of Bill Sherman, an Emmy, Grammy, and Tony award-winning producer and composer (Hamilton, In The Heights, Sesame Street), as well as Michael Novick, the producer of Glee.

Jake Huffman

In the meantime,Jake Huffman has made a name for himself as a composer and lyricist for Sesame Street. He has written dozens of songs for artists like Leon Bridges and Ed Sheeran. It appears that he will have an explosive year in 2023, with a lot more to come.

Martyr

Huffman’s most recent single, “Martyr,” is a cohesive ode to his upcoming EP and was written, recorded, and produced at the world-renowned PowerStation New England Studio. The track explores a commentary on dying on a hill through compelling discourses.

He explained that he does not express his personal beliefs in the lyrics. He sees people extolling their beliefs while simultaneously contradicting themselves and he wanted this song to capture the energy of today’s polarized world.

His musicality comes to life with the perfect redemption punch. On top of crashing choruses, soaring melodies, and the alt-rock-infused rhythms that Huffman is known for possessing, his anthemic vocal energy soars. As he explores a journey into creativity, Huffman hopes that listeners will take something from the song with expanding soundscapes and truly impeccable capability. His most recent single consolidates his status as an exceptional talent, accompanied by a sound that draws heavily from his rock roots and reaches far into what can only be described as the sound of the 20s.
