On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, in fantasy adventure books, The Lexicon Series by Anne Wall, Alfie Tucker, is offered a chance of a lifetime to break free from his daily life, and the disappointment of his father, and changes his life’s trajectory forever.
This book series for 8 to 12 year old’s is bursting with adventure, fantasy and daring missions. In a similar vein to Harry Potter, readers join Alfie Tucker and watch him grow from a shy and ordinary boy to a young man with the abilities and the heart to take on his destiny in a life transforming and vital role.
Keen to escape, even briefly, from a father who is always disappointed in him, shy pre-teen bookworm, Alfie Tucker, accepts what he believes to be an invitation for the adventure of a lifetime. What he doesn’t realise is that by doing so, he kick-starts a series of nail-biting missions that propel him onto a roller-coaster ride of daring exploits over the course of his vital formative years. Unbeknown to him, those missions are a harsh testing ground created to prove that Alfie is capable of taking on a destined role far in his future.
While Alfie Tucker questions the purpose behind the quests, despite the occasional teasing hint being dropped, no credible answers forthcoming. A higher authority has always decreed that the truth behind the mystery should never be revealed until their young protégé reaches early adulthood.
Home alone one day, almost teen Alfie Tucker, receives a mysterious map. It contains an intriguing message inviting him to embark on a quest to save a precious artefact from disappearing forever. With an overabundance of curiosity, but no idea what the relic might be, Alfie accepts, unaware that by doing so his life will change forever.
Packed with suspense, drama, excitement, and mystery, plus danger staring him in the face at every turn, Alfie Tucker’s adventures in The Librarius Quest, turn out to be the experience of a lifetime. But little does the young boy know that his quest, The Librarius Quest, is only the beginning.
When the written word comes under attack for a second time, Alfie Tucker is pitched headlong into another nail-biting race against time to save The Gilded Lexicon. As the daring young adventurer sets out in search of the ancient artefact, he soon discovers there is someone else out there who will stop at nothing to get their hands on the relic.
After learning that they too are after The Gilded Lexicon, but for a very different reason, Alfie realises it is vital he thwarts any attempt by the enemy to get to the priceless treasure first. But is he already too late?
Alfie Tucker’s struggles to keep the Gilded Lexicon safe continue as, in an astonishing twist, threats rain down on the artefact for a third time. A Christmas Day shock jerks the young teen from family celebrations, pitching him against two warring factions in a desperate race against time.
Could there be more to Alfie’s nail-biting adventures than he realises? The Witch’s Blood is only part of the story.
I left school aged 15 without any qualifications, married in my twenties, mother of three and grandmother of eight, my life has been satisfying, my eventual career as a secretary/PA in many fields, varied, fulfilling and eventful. However, with a long-held ambition to write for children and no intention of passing the hours watching daytime tv upon my retirement, I took the decision that a change of career could be the way to go.
Despite the misgivings/doubts of others forever ringing loud in my ears and determined to make a success of what I hoped might take me in a completely different direction, I soldiered on. Besides, I had no choice. Having created my young adventurer, Alfie Tucker, he had become my responsibility. I had to keep him safe.
And so it was that as I penned his adventures, I stepped into his shoes, went where he went, suffered as he suffered, fought his battles alongside him, extricated him from the impossibly tight corners I managed to write him into, and, most importantly, triumphed when he triumphed; that’s what really gives me that buzz of excitement and satisfaction.
