Betrayed – Part 1: The Early Years is a harrowing account of a young boy’s descent into a world of unimaginable horror. From the tender age of six months, David was passed from one uncaring relative to another, a life marked by neglect and abuse. At thirteen, unable to endure the torment any longer, he fled into the perilous world of the streets, seeking an escape from his family’s cruelty.
Miraculously escaping his tormentors, David found a semblance of safety in a so-called secure home. Yet, terror continued to haunt him. Bound by a vow of silence and consumed by fear, he initially resisted sharing the depths of his ordeal with care workers. Eventually, the weight of his trauma became too heavy to bear, and he revealed the horrifying truth about his abuse. This courage led to the arrest of his perpetrators.
However, his torment was far from over. In a desperate attempt to silence him, David was abducted twice. The second kidnapping was a particularly harrowing ordeal, with weeks of captivity and renewed abuse. With unwavering determination, he managed to escape and seek refuge with the police.
Kia Palgrave Trivett’s meticulous research and unwavering dedication to uncovering the truth have produced a raw and unflinching portrait of a childhood shattered. As David’s story unfolds, readers are confronted with the devastating impact of child abuse, a problem that continues to plague society.
Heartbreaking New Child Abuse Biography – Part 1 is not merely a chronicle of suffering; it is a testament to the indomitable human spirit. This series of books is a true story based on the recollections of David whom I have known now for 20 years.
When I first met David, he told me about his life which I found incredible, in fact I would go as far to say unbelievable. So much so that I actually made enquiries to verify what he had told me. What I discovered was that he had been honest, but I realised there was an awful lot that he did not know too. I have nothing but admiration for him and Betrayed is his story.
Part 1 is an introduction to the early years of David’s life and how he was passed from one family member to another, in and out of care, living with foster parents until he was returned to his father where the abuse and neglect continued. When you read the book, it will become clear to the reader why I had such a hard time believing David’s story at first as it encompasses various forms of abuse and neglect to kidnapping, being held prisoner, giving evidence against his abusers and life in a secure home. Perhaps I was naïve, but I was incredulous that all of this could happen to a person so young, and they were still around to tell the tale.
I live in England with my fiancé, and I have two sons, 21 and 27 years old. I have always enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember but when I left school, I didn’t think writing would be considered a ‘proper’ job, and so I eventually pursued a career in law. That is, until my children were born, and my priorities changed. My eldest son has disabilities and raising him, and his brother was a challenge especially after their Dad and I separated. This prompted a career change to one that was more flexible and meant I could be there for my children.
Throughout my life I have always been a writer whether it has been just keeping a diary or writing short stories to full blown novels. I began writing in my teens and like most writers it started as a hobby. For me, it’s like therapy! I have spent the last six years researching and writing Betrayed. It has taken a lot of time to bring it all together and ultimately, what started off as one book has turned into a much bigger series.
