After meeting a few remarkable families who asked me many questions, I thought it was time to share my knowledge. I wrote this book to help families like mine feel an element of control in this moment and know you are not alone. I may not know your exact stories and voyages, but I understand how hard the journey can be.
Please don’t be fooled by my optimism; this book has been unbelievably emotionally expensive and, at times, just horrendous to write. But even if I help just one family, with one of my tips, pieces of advice or stories, it will all have been worth it.
I wish you all the strength to keep going, no matter how hard; the tools to find humour where there is none; and the ability to enjoy all the good moments together, for as long as you can – whenever and wherever they may be found.
