I love cooking and I try to be as creative as possible. From shopping for ingredients, to thinking of ways to mix them together, to creating new flavours and dishes, and, of course, eating, everything about food fills me with joy and excitement. Because of this, I find food relaxing and entertaining, and also look for inspiration and ideas whatever I’m doing.

Food Games

I have found that playing food games can be a great way to inspire creativity in the kitchen. Many food games require players to follow recipes, measure ingredients, and use kitchen appliances which, while fun in the game, can trigger ideas for how to translate that to real food in the kitchen. With a little creativity and imagination, food games can be a great way to take your cooking skills to the next level.

Plus, they’re a great way to relax and de-stress after a long day, and when you’re a busy, stressed, working parent like me, that’s a wonderful way to wind down.

There are many different types of food games available, from simple matching games to complex cooking simulators, so there’s sure to be one that you’ll enjoy. So if you’re a food lover looking for a way to be creative in the kitchen, or you just want to chill out at the end of a long day, try playing a food game. You might be surprised at what you can come up with.

Pac-Chef

Pac-Chef

Pac-Chef combines one of my favourite arcade games, Pac-Man, with the culinary world. Instead of a Pac-Man, you play as a chef who must collect all the ingredients to make a delicious meal, and instead of ghosts, you have to avoid the other chefs who are trying to steal your ingredients.

The game is played on a maze-like board which you move your chef around using the arrow keys. When you collide with an ingredient, you will collect it, and when you’ve collected all the ingredients and all the tokens, you’ve complete the level and finished your meal.

It is a great way to test your reflexes, but also each level tells you the ingredients needed for specific meals, whether it’s tortellini, bolognaise, or ratatouille, which is a fun way to learn the basic requirements to create these dishes and, therefore, inspire you to try it in real life!

Burger Maker

Burger Maker

In the game Burger Maker, the goal is to stack ingredients according to the order list to make a perfect made-to-order burger in 10 to 15 seconds. You have to move fast to get everything in the right order before the time is up, and it gets harder the further through you go as more ingredients are added. Click the “serve now” button under the burger to deliver it to the customer and move on to the next level.

This is a really simple game to follow, but the time pressure makes it very satisfying and increasingly challenging which is a lot of fun. It also gives you the munchies, and I love making burgers for dinner and adding different ingredients, so my mind often wanders to dinner time and pondering what I’ll add to our own burgers.

Farm Story

Farm Story

If you enjoy Candy Crush, Farm Story is a very similar game and just as fun. It’s a simple connect 3 or more game, where you have to collect a certain number of different vegetables, such as chilli peppers, carrots, tomatoes etc.  Players are given 2 minutes to collect vegetables on each level, and the shape of the board can make moving them down tricky, but a satisfying challenge.

While a lot of games inspire you in the kitchen, this one is just fun. The basic gameplay is easy to understand, but the levels become increasingly challenging as you complete each one. This makes the game rewarding to play, as you feel a sense of accomplishment when you beat a difficult level. The levels are short and easy to pick up, which makes it easy to play for just a few minutes at a time. However, the levels are also challenging enough to keep you coming back for more.

Choco Blocks

Choco Blocks

Choco Blocks is inspired by one of my all time favourites; Tetris. Instead of regular blocks, you must match blocks of chocolate to clear them from the board by turning them round and dropping them down to complete lines. You can move the blocks left, right, and rotate them to make matches. When you match 3 or more blocks of the same color, they will disappear from the board.

The goal of the game is to clear as many blocks as possible before the board fills up. As the game progresses, the blocks will fall faster and faster, making it more challenging to make matches.

It is addictive and so much fun, and a great challenge, but all that chocolate means you probably shouldn’t play it when you’re feeling snacking because you’re definitely going to want to go and get something yummy!

Online Food Games

Playing online food games can be a great way to inspire kitchen creativity, as well as having a chance to relax. So next time you are feeling stressed or creative, why not try playing an online food game? You might just find that it is the perfect way to relax and have some fun.
