We’re thrilled and hugely excited! ‘Barista The Musical’ is a show that we have been writing and workshopping for over ten years now. With all the love and hard work that has gone into the show, it’s absolutely wonderful to see it coming to life, and to know it will soon be on stage is more than a dream come true.
We are extremely lucky to have such a fantastic team of creatives working with us and also to have our great producers, EJP, who have been supporting us on this journey since 2018.
-Nigel Newman, Co-Creator of ‘Barista The Musical’
Isabella Sanchez leaves her home in Colombia to study in England, with ambitions to make her mark on the world. She meets Andy Scott, a small struggling cafe owner, facing the emergence of coffee shop multiples on every street corner. Working part time for Andy during her studies she helps him make some positive changes to his business and their friendship flourishes and becomes closer.
Isabella is increasingly haunted by nightmares about her family and her past. Could it be the stress of her final year of university or is there something more and real that she needs to uncover?
Despite the improvements being made in the cafe, Andy is in financial trouble, and he goes to the bank to get help and buy more time to get the business back on its feet. When they turn him down Andy is devastated but believes his fortunes are changing when shortly after, Vanessa, a businesswoman and regular in the café, offers to make an investment. Isabella is suspicious of Vanessa and her motives, and her relationship with Andy becomes increasingly strained as he is blinded by everything Vanessa is offering.
Things reach a head for Isabella as both the situation with Andy, and her nightmares about her past and her family continue to get worse. Her studies are over and there is nothing to keep her in England anymore. Determined to find the truth about the past and what is affecting her family she leaves for her beautiful homeland.
