On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, ABCs Of The World’s Religion by Vicki Michela Garlock introduces young learners to diverse faiths through engaging rhymes and insightful information, fostering a deeper understanding of religious diversity.
Rev. Vicki Michela Garlock, a former psychology professor and ordained minister, dedicated over a decade to exploring world religions. Her mission? To create an engaging and inclusive resource that introduces children to the diverse tapestry of faith traditions. The result: the award-winning children’s book, ABCs of the World’s Religions.
This unique book celebrates both the rich diversity and shared values found across various religious traditions. Focusing primarily on Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, it also incorporates the Baha’i faith and Indigenous/polytheistic traditions where relevant.
Each letter of the alphabet unfolds across two vibrant pages, illustrated by Raman Bhardwaj. On the left, engaging rhyming couplets present fundamental concepts in a way that captivates preschool and kindergarten-aged children. The right-hand pages offer more in-depth information, including insightful comparisons and contrasts among different faiths, making it suitable for elementary-aged readers.
Winner of the International Impact Book Award and the Book Excellence Award, among others, ABCs of the World’s Religions is a valuable resource for families of all faiths and those without religious affiliation. With easy-to-use pronunciation guides and a non-devotional approach, this book fosters a deeper understanding of religious diversity while remaining appropriate for classroom settings.
I firmly believe that religious literacy is essential if we want to live harmoniously and successfully in our global world. If people can see that these religions can coexist peacefully, calmly and side by side in a book, maybe they’ll start to realize that we can do this in real life as well.
Religion and culture are inextricably intertwined. Being a knowledgeable global citizen and a compassionate neighbor really requires knowing something about the world’s faith traditions.
