Nostalgia
Acclaimed songwriter Emily Haber has unveiled her deeply personal new single, “Nostalgia,” the lead track from her forthcoming EP of the same name. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Daniel Dávila (Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, Timbaland), the single marks a pivotal moment in Haber’s career, showcasing her evocative lyricism and profound storytelling. The EP, set to release later this year, is a testament to her growth as an artist and her ability to weave triumph and heartbreak into soul-stirring music.

“Nostalgia” is more than a song—it’s a window into Haber’s complex journey. Born with severe hearing loss in both ears, she wore hearing aids from age four, navigating a world of sound with resilience and instinct. Her early years were spent on the road with Laughing Pizza, an award-winning children’s band formed by her musical parents and signed to Sony/Epic Records.
From ages 7 to 17, Haber performed across the U.S., often relying on muscle memory when her hearing aids failed mid-show. It wasn’t until she was 13, with the help of advanced hearing aid technology from The Starkey Hearing Foundation, that she fully heard her own voice. By 17, she experienced music’s intricate layers for the first time, unlocking a “sixth sense” that infuses her work with palpable depth.
In a heartfelt gesture, Haber will donate a portion of the single’s proceeds to The Starkey Hearing Foundation, which provides hearing aids to those in need, connecting them to the world through sound.
Haber’s path to “Nostalgia” was shaped by both joy and profound loss. At 15, she lost her mother to stage 4 ovarian cancer, a tragedy that redefined her life and art. After a decade of performing with her family, Haber struck out on her own, moving to Nashville at 19 to forge a solo career. Keeping her Laughing Pizza history private, she built her reputation from the ground up, working at the iconic Bluebird Cafe and immersing herself in the city’s songwriting scene. A chance meeting with Grammy-winning songwriter Liz Rose at Eddie’s Attic proved transformative. Rose mentored Haber, introducing her to Nashville’s tight-knit creative community and encouraging her to chase her dreams.

In 2017, Haber signed with Prescription Songs, launching a prolific songwriting career. Her credits include collaborations with artists like Andy Grammer, Joy Oladokun, Gryffin, Abby Anderson, Miki Ratsula, and Devon Gabriella, as well as placements in television and film, including The Sex Lives of College Girls, The L Word, Batwoman, and Teen Mom. Her ability to craft universal stories with raw authenticity has made her a sought-after voice in the industry.
The creation of Nostalgia began in March 2023, when Haber met Dávila during a songwriting panel at USC. Their creative chemistry was immediate, and together they crafted an EP that reflects Haber’s unique perspective. The title track, “Nostalgia,” is a poignant tribute to the childhood she longed for but never fully had. Blending wistful dreams with the ache of growing up, the song captures the bittersweet tension of looking back while moving forward.
With “Nostalgia,” Emily Haber invites listeners into her world, where resilience, creativity, and a lifelong love for music converge. The single is a powerful preview of an EP that promises to solidify her place as one of today’s most compelling storytellers.
