According to his explanation, Edgar Wright was born and raised in Dorset and lived in Swanage until the age of seven. One of the first movie theaters he ever went to was the Mowlem, which was part of the reason he became a movie fan that continues to this day. He was thrilled to see that the Mowlem was still showing movies when he went back to Swanage for a break last summer. It was a very pleasant experience to stand in the auditorium once more, and he hopes to descend once more soon. He shared that being a patron makes him proud; He is a movie chief now, yet he was constantly a film-participant. He hopes they continue their excellent work.

Board of Trustees

The Mowlem Institute Charity is pleased to announce that Edgar Wright has agreed to serve as The Mowlem Theatre’s first patron. In their 2022 business plan, they stated that they wanted to hire a patron for The Mowlem Theatre, but they didn’t think it would happen so quickly. They didn’t expect to find a Patron who had a remarkable body of work and a genuine connection to Swanage and The Mowlem. Mr. Wright’s agreement to serve as our Patron is greatly appreciated.
