DROPS’ IS THE DEBUT ALBUM OF DUTCH SINGER, VIOLIST AND SONGWRITER ALBERTINE, THE STAGE NAME OF YANNA PELSER. ‘DROPS’ STANDS FOR AN ECLECTIC MIX OF STYLES WITH THE SOUND OF ALBERTINE’S VOICE AND HER PLUCKING ON THE VIOLA AS THE CONNECTING FACTOR.

Drops by Albertine

The album contains 11 compositions in which Albertine and producer Lasse Passage, using many styles such as west-coast pop from the 60s and 70s, EDM, jazz, folk and western classical music, managed to create a completely unique sound. A sound that tells about Albertine’s life as a young woman in the city.

A life with all its ups and downs; feeling a special attraction to another being or to nature, the loss of loved ones, as well as the demise of Planet Earth. One could say that a longing for more equality, honesty and a sense of belonging in this world is a driving force in her music.

Reviews

Reviewers describe Albertine’s voice as warm and soft, her singing as unpretentious, her songwriting as unique and surprising with sounds uncommon in pop music, the arrangements as fresh and balanced.

“Drops by Albertine is an unequalled debut, a pearl on the crown of Dutch pop music. A true masterpiece. One of the most original albums of 2021.“ – maxazine . nl

“Albertine’s voice sounds warm, pleasant and with the perfect amount of support, the opening track of ‘Drops’ is an instant gem. […] On her first solo album, Albertine immediately shows that she has great qualities as a singer-songwriter.” – dansendeberen . be

“What Albertine shows on Drops is impressive. Let’s just be glad there was a lockdown, otherwise we might never have gotten to hear this wonderful stuff. Fans of entertaining modern folk would do well to purchase this vinyl gem soon.” – podiuminfo . nl
